George Granville Monah James (1893-1956) was a Guyanese-American historian and author. His 1954 book Stolen Legacy argues that Greek philosophy and religion originated in ancient Egypt. James contends that Greek philosophy was based on ideas and concepts borrowed from the ancient Egyptians. He argues that when Alexander the Great invaded Egypt, he captured the Royal Library at Alexandria and that Egyptian ideas then spread to Greece. The narrative draws on the writings of freemasonry to support the claim that Greco-Roman mystery religion originates from an Egyptian mystery system.
