Stupid George! the Big Fat Loser is a simple attempt to chronicle the struggle of an inept dad adjusting to raising, loving, and living with a child with autism. Some books are written about special needs “situations” and many of them end with a miraculous “feel good” result. Some books are written simply to teach and relate to children and adults with special needs. If you have met one person with autism, you have met one person with autism. Thus, it is called a “spectrum disorder” — and within the spectrum lies varying levels of frustration, challenge, and obstacles that impact the lives of the individual and their families.While this book is a personal story, it also is about the realism associated with autism spectrum disorder. The fact is that a cure does not exist and there will be development, triumph, and joy along the way but it will be filled with fear, anger, and hopelessness as well. He is a graduate of Auburn University (B.S., 1986) and the University of Alabama (Birmingham) School of Dentistry (D.M.D., 1991).
